The following are ways to obtain a burn permit in the Town of Eddington:
- Town Office (Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Eddington Fire Station (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) for access, use the main entrance door of the Town Office, even on weekends.
- Online at www.maineburnpermit.com These are free and valid for 24 hours.

The following materials can be burned with a permit:
- Burning of painted and unpainted wood and demolition debris, wood wastes [i.e.brush, stumps, lumber (material that is entirely made of wood and is free from metal, plastic coatings and chemical treatments), bark, wood chips, shavings, slabs, edgings, slash, sawdust and wood from production rejects that are not mixed with other solid or liquid waste].
- Burning of vegetative growth for hazardous abatement purposes, such as, but not limited to, the burning of grass fields.
The following situations do not require a burn permit:
- Residential use of outdoor grills and fireplaces for recreational purposes such as preparing food.
- Recreational campfires kindled when the ground is covered with snow or on frozen bodies of water.
The permittee must:
- stay with the fire until it is completely out
- have a written permit in their possession
- assure that no nuisance is created
- follow all safety guidelines & permit conditions

Burn permits will be issued on a day to day basis... However, as of July 1, 2023, no permits can be issued over the phone.
